Cloud pic

We woke up to day 3 at Fish River Sun and we found clouds with a silver lining on the horizon facing us, we trusted that this would be a good omen. The morning session proved to be kind to us with a foursomes victory of 3 games to 1.

The day progressed with the wind blowing harder and harder, this made the afternoon games extremely tough for us. Fortunately with a very hard fight form the team we managed to beat the log leaders 6 ½ to 5 ½. We have to compliment the Southern Cape Team for an incredible performance, coming back at us, and making us earn every game. A very hard fought match by both teams, and we were fortunate to secure the 3 ½ games we required to win the match.

The result of today’s match is as follows:

Dawn pic

Day 2 dawned and the team was very prepared and confident for the game against our neighbours Gauteng North. The morning session of foursomes ended evenly on a 2 to 2 draw, this set up a great afternoon round for the singles. The two unions have been in many a tussel in recent years and this day proved no different.

The teams fought hard and played well, with no games given up easily. As usual the games all ended within the last few holes only to see that Gauteng North beat us 7 games to 5. All credit to our opposition that played steadily in the very strong winds and making few mistakes.

Our team can be proud of themselves for not giving up without a fight to the bitter end. The Union is very proud of the diversified and mostly young side that are representing us.

We face Southern Cape tomorrow and look forward to a hard fought game.
